What does “More Than a Meal” mean?
“More than a Meal” is rooted in the reality that good nutrition goes beyond the plate of food given to a child each day. This is our end-of-the-year campaign to bolster our programs combating malnutrition in Madagascar.
Daily meals and snacks provided for EnSpice children act as a catalyst to a more full and active childhood. EnSpice Children’s Foundation (ECF) strives to not simply fill children’s bellies, but to provide all the essential nutrients they need to live into their brightest potential.
ECF works with a school in Madagascar to design nutrition programs that are informed by a dietitian. Dietetic advice helps us select the most nutritious, local food sources that will provide children with all the necessary macro- and micro-nutrients for optimal functioning of both the children’s bodies and minds.
In the United States, we are inundated with nutritional information whether we realize it or not. From commercials to the posters lining school walls and doctors offices.
We readily have access to the most up-to-date nutritional guidelines for what children need each day. From a well-rounded breakfast to a satisfying and nutritious lunch and dinner, we have a wealth of information at our fingertips. It is easy to take that information and, better yet, the access we have to food for granted.
Unfortunately, knowledge of, and access to, nutrition simply isn’t a reality for the community we serve. This is why ECF strives to provide crucial nutritional support to students at Mangafaly School.
What does “strong” giving look like & what does it mean for the children of EnSpice?
Good nutrition helps children thrive. When children receive proper nourishment, their bodies and minds become so much stronger. Isn’t it amazing that something so simple as the food we eat can contribute to whether or not we fulfill our potential? ECF believes in nutrition because we believe it can translate to positive health outcomes for children that offer stability and potential into adulthood.
Every little bit goes a long way. Maybe you can’t give much - but maybe you can give $25. Maybe you can only give a one time gift. But, maybe, you can give a quarterly gift or even a monthly gift.
Imagine that 10 people gave $25. That’s $250 — now imagine if those same 10 people decided that could be a quarterly gift — suddenly, what seems like small numbers builds towards a gift that makes a significant change. $1,000 is more than enough to feed one child at our school lunch program for more than 2 years.
For a sacrifice of just $100 a year, you could be a part of creating a brighter future for a child.
For us, it’s more than a meal. For countless children worldwide, proper nutrition is more than a meal, too. Our programs partner with in-country resources to help children have healthier, fuller lives. By partnering with us, you can join that mission, too.
